Election Committee
Responsibilities of the Committee:
- Strive to ensure that the election is fairly run;
- Decide whether a candidate has violated the election rules;
- Remain impartial and unbiased on election issues or candidates and make no public statements concerning the election except in respect to election procedural matters;
- Ensure that an election web site is created and updated;
- Strive to record the proceedings at all public forums; and
- Within sixty (60) days of the end of the polling period, submit a report to Students’ Council that details its decisions during the election, summarizes the results of the election, including voter turnout by faculty, and recommends improvements for future elections.

Length of appointments: Appointments are made on a term by term basis.
Length/Time commitment of committee: This committee must meet at least once per academic term (if a by-election is held, the commitment would be regular meetings through the 2-3 week election cycle).
Election Appeals Committee
Responsibilities of the Committee: Adjudicate any appeals made my the Elections Committee

Committee Make Up: 3 Councillors
Length of appointments: Appointments are made on a term by term basis.
Time commitments of the Committee: This committee typically doesn't meet unless there is an appeal from a by-election decision (so maybe expect 1-3 meetings).
Referendum Committee
Responsibilities of Committee:
- Act impartial and unbiased on referendum issues and make no public written and/or oral statements concerning the referendum except in respect to referendum procedural matters.
- Within sixty (60) days of the end of the polling period, submit a report to Council reviewing each referendum, including any decisions made by the committee, and recommendations for future referendums.
- Cast all decisions as to unfair campaigning and in all cases of dispute in referendum procedure.Discipline any side in a referendum for contravening these regulations. Any side so disciplined may appeal the decision to the Referendum Appeals Committee whose decision will be final.
- Update the posting regulations stipulated by Plant Operations and the administrations of Architecture, Village residences, Conrad Grebel, St. Jerome’s, St. Paul's, and Renison.
- Be responsible for the creation of a Federation of Students’referendum website.
- Create a valid voters list for each referendum question being decided.
- Ensure that the online ballot and offline ballot used for referendum voting are correct.
- Test the online voting system and ballot.
- Ensure that undergraduate students who are not on the Voter's List but are members of the Federation of Students, and are eligible to vote, are able to vote offline.
- Strive to record the proceedings of all public forums

Committee Make Up: 1 Chief Returning Officer, who must me a member of the Federation of Students and is Chair of the Committee; 1 member of the Federation of Students who has been or is a member of the Bylaws, Policies and Procedures Committee;. 2 members of Students’ Council; and 1 undergraduate student-at-large.
Length of appointments: Appointments are made on an Ad hoc basis
Time commitments of the Committee: Expect a strong time commitment before, during and immediately after a referendum.
Referendum Appeals Committee
Responsibilities of Committee:
- Consider all appeals of Referendum Committee decisions;
- Remain impartial and unbiased on referendum issues and make no public statements concerning a referendum except in regard to election procedural matters, and If it made decisions, submit a report to Students’ Council that details its decisions, within sixty (60) days of the end of the polling period.
